Thanksgiving turkey??
I am making thanksgiving dinner for me and my special someone ... I am not rich, but I do want to have some turkey. I need some suggestions on a cheap option for turkey... such as... can i get just a couple of pounds of it from wal-mart or is there a little turkey out there??

- You can just buy a turkey breast. However, you'll pay more per pound. It might be cheaper in the long run to just buy the whole bird, and put what you don't use into freezer bags, and freeze it for later use. Sometimes I've been able to find them for 48 cents per pound. That was the case last year, and I bought two - one for Thanksgiving, and one for the freezer. I'm hoping to find a similar deal this year.
- Try a turkey breast ... they're more expensive per pound, but they're not as big, so rather than spend $20 for a turkey, you may only spend $8 or $9 for a turkey breast. Two other options ... a roasting chicken or Cornish game hens.
- There are turkeys as small as 10lb. Also a lot of stores run really good speacl on turkey.
- definetly get a turkey breast, the grocery stores will start to put them on sale closer to thanksgiving,so depending on the brand you could get it for pretty cheap, always try wal-mart first, they usually have pretty good deals,if nothing else, try cornish game hens, they work well too.
- you can get a turkey breast but it's usually more per pound. a young turkey is pretty small. they usually run them on sale the week before thanksgiving. you'll have plenty for 2 with enough left over for the turkey salad sandwiches for a couple of days! stove top stuffing usually goes on sale too. i saw it for 88 cents a box this week. the veggies you probably have in your pantry. look online to find out how to jazz 'em up a bit. don't forget the pumpkin pie!!
